Publication Ethics
Our expectations around authorship, disclosure, and research integrity.
Authorship
All listed authors should have made meaningful contributions to the work. Contributions may include conception, design, data collection, analysis, interpretation, or writing. Honorary authorship is not acceptable.
All authors must approve the final submitted version and accept responsibility for the work.
Originality and dual submission
Submissions to ML4H must be original work not previously published (beyond preprints) and not simultaneously under review elsewhere. Submitting the same work to multiple venues during the ML4H review period is not permitted.
Data and code
We strongly encourage authors to make code and data publicly available to support reproducibility. Where data cannot be shared due to privacy or licensing constraints, authors should describe the data as fully as possible and note any restrictions.
Use of AI tools
Authors must disclose the use of AI writing or coding assistance tools in their submission. AI tools may not be listed as authors.
Conflicts of interest
Authors must disclose all funding sources and any potential conflicts of interest (financial, professional, or personal) that could affect the interpretation of their work.
